Location Planning

Lauren and I have decided on this location as it is not only a clear open space, where our actor/performer has a lot of space to dance and move, but also the glass almost creates a mirror effect when in the dark, which creates quite a sinister effect like in the original 'What Now'. Other than this setting we will also use a large screen at school, where we can incorporate ideas that we used in our preliminary task- 'four, five seconds', which included a large number of close up and mid shots as well as groovy editing techniques.

Magazine Advert options

Lauren and I created 2 different magazine adverts as part of our preliminary task. We used the online website 'canva'. This website was really useful as it allowed us to choose from a range of different templates, which we could then edit and adapt to create something in keeping with out music video. We created two to give us options and a larger range of choice. However after receiving audience feed back we were told one was too plain and simple and the other ones writing almost ruined the image. Therefore we will try and create another with similar ideas however also take on board our audience feedback.

In depth analysis of magazine adverts

The Killers- Wonderful, Wonderful Although 'The Killers' music comes under the 'rock' genre, many of their songs also fall under the pop genre, which my music video 'What Now' does. When analysing their album cover I firstly looked at the colours, which had a simple yet aesthetically pleasing colour scheme of light pink, blue and white. Although these colours are not typically associated with rock music they amplify the album name 'Wonderful, wonderful'. Furthermore when considering the album is rock I was also surprised by image on the album- a hand holding a shell with the blurred unfocused background appearing to be a beach. When reading the magazines target profile it stated that it 'delivers a monthly dose of iconic photography to an audience of extremely passionate music consumers'. Website Research- Rihanna

1. Rihanna Firstly, we have looked at Rihanna's website to get inspiration for our ancillary task, of creating a website. We really loved the black and white monotone colours she used. When the curser hovers over the image it turns from black and white to colour- this was very unique and therefore very effective. The aspect we most liked on Rihanna's website was the photo album. When you open the website the photos fell onto the screen creating a college, so this is defiantly something we would like to use. (if possible) Due to the global brand Rihanna has created, she is able to sell both her clothing and makeup on her website, making it more interactive and useful. Unlike many other artists including Bruno Mars, Rihanna's website is not only used for music and information on tours but to give the viewer an insight into Rihanna's lifestyle.
