Editing year 6 clips!

Yesterday the year 6's came in for their induction day where each of them filmed a short video about themselves. After they had completed this we were able to develop our skills using iMovie. This involved adding their video with a green screen and a chosen picture. We then added music they had chosen behind the clip. Although we had already used these skills, it was useful as we were able to become more comfortable with them and the software.

Knole House & Orlando

Last Friday, both our English and Media class went on a trip to Knole House in Kent, which used to belong to Vita Sackville West, Virginia Woolfs lover. The day was based around Virginia Woolfs novel 'Orlando' who's character changes sex from man to women, whilst living for centuries. In the morning we were taken on a tour of the house in the style of a performance. Each room we were taken too represented a different time zone and their particular view on gender and gender identity, in relation to Vita Sackville West, Virginia Wolf and who 'Orlando' actually was. To see 17th, 18th and 19th century views on women was not only shocking but allowed me to challenge my initial thoughts on gender. In the afternoon we took part in a small workshop, where we discussed gender and how it should not just described as 'binary' or two opposites. After this we watched Tilda Swinton's 1992 adaptation of 'Orlando' where we could see the progression of women...
