Message to Moderator

Dear Moderator, My name is Grace Ryan Candidate 1616, and welcome to my OCR A2 Media Studies blog. This is a record of the work undertaken as part of the G325 A2 Advanced Portfolio within the OCR GCS course in Media Studies. I worked with a partner to produce a music video in the pop genre. The project lasted six months, commencing in September 2017 and finishing in March 2018. I hope you enjoy my work and find it both successful and interesting. First Filming session

Today, Lauren and I had our first filming day. We had planned to film all our shots, which were in front of the green screen. Initially we found it difficult to fit the whole of our actor in the frame of the camera as not only was she was moving horizontally across the green screen but she had her hands vertically above her head, making it difficult to fit the whole move in the shot. However we were able to easily and effectively solve this problem by moving the camera back during the filming and then cropping the screen during the editing process. When filming we made sure we used our storyboard so we knew exactly what we were creating, however we also filmed extra shots incase they were needed in the editing stages. These are some photos of Lauren and I whilst filming our first shots.

In depth analysis of magazine adverts

The Killers- Wonderful, Wonderful Although 'The Killers' music comes under the 'rock' genre, many of their songs also fall under the pop genre, which my music video 'What Now' does. When analysing their album cover I firstly looked at the colours, which had a simple yet aesthetically pleasing colour scheme of light pink, blue and white. Although these colours are not typically associated with rock music they amplify the album name 'Wonderful, wonderful'.  Furthermore when considering the album is rock I was also surprised by image on the album- a hand holding a shell with the blurred unfocused background appearing to be a beach. When reading the magazines target profile it stated that it 'delivers a monthly dose of iconic photography to an audience of extremely passionate music consumers'.
